While we don’t pray to be deactivated, it could happen anytime, even if you’re doing things right. Of course, you’re not in control of the company.

So what happens when you deactivated for no reason On Doordash? Why and what can you do about it? This article will explain just that.

Reasons why you were deactivated for no reason on Doordash?

As someone who has some experience driving for rideshare and delivery companies, it could be painful to get penalised for no good reason, especially when you’ve always tried to follow the policies of the companies.

But then, it’s not uncommon to get deactivated on Doordash for “typically” no reason. We’ve seen it happen several times.

But from our experience, below are some of the reasons you got deactivated:

You abused the platform

You may have always tried to maintain a good record, dashing.

This includes trying to maintain a good completion rate, customer rate and even acceptance rate (which doesn’t even count).

However, regardless of all these, a single policy violation (like abusing the platform) can get your account deactivated. This is to show how strict Doordash is, regarding its policy.

Now, what do we mean by abusing Doordash?

Below is a list of ways, in Doordash’s own terms, in which you can abuse them:

  1. You tried to deceive them: It could appear that you’re deceiving Doordash when you have multiple accounts as a single person, gave misinformation about yourself or mode of transportation during signup, etc.
  2. Tampering with customer’s order: While this is obvious, it’s important you know the effect (deactivation).
  3. Marking a delivery complete when it hasn’t been completed yet: Doordash only recognises a complete delivery when the customer has actually received the order. So what happens when customers are always not available? Well, according to Doordash, you should make proper steps to contact the customer. This includes either waiting for them or dropping the goods on the doorstep of the owner.
  4. Making unsafe and late deliveries: For every order you deliver, make sure you do them in a professional way i.e acting professional, actually delivering as quick as possible, and keeping to time. Otherwise, you could risk losing your account, even for a single report.

Most people would think staying inactive for a while on the platform could cause your account to be deactivated. But no, that’s not the case with Doordash.

You were reported on

Now, regardless of how hard you’ve tried to maintain a good customer rating, one serious report with substantial proof can get your account deactivated.

Just so you know, there are many ways a customer could report on you. For instance;

  1. They could use the feedback option, usually available after a delivery has been completed
  2. They could also choose to use the in-app live chat with Doordash customer service
  3. Email address
  4. Via Twitter or other social media platforms

If you’re actually not at fault, you could also choose to file for an appeal. Thankfully Doordash has this option, unlike some other delivery companies. We talked more about this at the end of the article.

You violated the company’s safety measures

Doordash has a list of safety measures it expects dashers to follow. Below is a list of some of these policies:

  1. A dasher should never take alcohol before or while driving
  2. Causing Violence while dashing is against the company’s policy
  3. Bad and dangerous driving shouldn’t be employed during worktime on the platform
  4. You should be compliant with the laws of the city you work in while dashing
  5. A dasher is not expected to share the information of anyone with a third party.

If these policies are violated, there are repercussions that follow after. One of them is the risk of getting your account terminated, without even a good reason.

Completion rate and Consumer ratings

We intentionally wanted to keep this at the last because most people who would be facing the problem of being deactivated for no reason, are less likely to be in the situation they are because of a bad completion or consumer ratings.

But then, it’s still important we keep this here.

Because as a matter of fact, if you’re deactivated for a bad completion rate or consumer ratings, you can’t appeal to Doordash.

So, yeah. Watch your consumer ratings as well as your completion rate. If they get too low, there are chances you could be deactivated.

Doordash account deactivated for no reason: Steps to take

It’s no news that you could easily get deactivated on Doordash for no good reason. But then, what can you do about it? This is of course what matters.

Appeal for the Deactivation.

Unlike some other delivery companies, you can always appeal for an account deactivation, provided you have a good statement to back it up.

Before we go on, it’s important to make mention that not all Doordash deactivation can be appealed for.

For instance, if you were deactivated for having a poor consumer rating or completion rate, you don’t have the option to appeal, as you’re not eligible.

You can only appeal for deactivation when you were deactivated for a safety violation, abusing the platform, or when you were reported on.

That being said, now onto the steps to getting appealing ways you can do this.

  1. Through the notification sent to you: Whether via email or on the app, the deactivation message sent to you would contain a link to appeal.
  2. By following Doordash’s guide for reinstation; Now if the other option doesn’t work for you, or you just can seem to find the deactivation message, you can go through Doordash’s article on appealing for dashers to get the link to the form.

Now that you have gotten access to the form, ensure to fill in the accurate details.

If you still don’t know the reason why you were kicked out, it’s best you contact Doordash via email. This is because you’d be asked to provide the details of the reason for your deactivation, in the appeal form.

Hop on other alternatives

Doordash isn’t only the delivery service out there.

If Doordash could mess up you this time, they could do it another day.

Don’t put your eggs in one basket. Even if your appeal would get approved the next day, it’s better you have a backup plan, especially when delivering food is your main career.

There are several other delivery alternatives like Postmates, Grubhub, UberEats, Deliveroo, etc, out there. Go explore!

Final Thoughts

If you were deactivated for no reason on Doordash, it could be because you had violated the company’s safety policies, abused the platform, or were reported on.

Thankfully, for anyone of these reasons, you could appeal for reinstation, if you have a solid follow-up statement.
