Over the years, there have been several complaints by Deliveroo customers about the company’s payment system.

While most people think of this issue as a bug, it is actually not. In fact, there’s something you can do about it.

In this article, we’ll be talking in detail about Deliveroo Apple Pay not working and what you can do about it.

Why is Deliveroo Apple Pay not working?

If your Apple pay is not working on Deliveroo, it’s either you’ve been shadowbanned by Deliveroo, the Apple pay system is down, or the issue is coming from your end.

You’ve probably been making payments fine with Deliveroo and all of a sudden, you tried using them again, and it just couldn’t seem to work.

Or maybe, you had returned a Deliveroo order and decided to make a similar purchase, and then boom, you get a silly error?

Aside from the Apple pay issue on Deliveroo, the company has always had a general payment problem.

While we have a good fix for this, we’ve already talked about this in detail in our article on how to fix all payment decline issues on Deliveroo.

So why is your Apple pay not working on Deliveroo?

When your Apple pay is not working on Deliveroo, the issue is either coming from you (you were shadowbanned), Apple pay (a downtime system), or a minor issue from you.

You don’t have to worry, however, as we’ll take down what you need to do, in the following paragraphs.

How to fix Deliveroo Apple Pay not Working

Generally, to fix Apple pay issue on Deliveroo, you first need to confirm if the fault is coming from your end or not. If it isn’t, you then run a downtime test on Apple pay system. If that is also perfect, you’ll need to troubleshoot Deliveroo with out two working methods.

As we said earlier, the Apple pay issue on Deliveroo could come from different angles. We’ll be taking this troubleshooting guide based on three angles.

  1. The Fault is Deliveroo’s
  2. The Fault is from the Apple pay system
  3. The Fault is on your end

So, without much ado, we’d go over this, how you can detect where the issues are coming from and the possible fixes to apply.

The Fault is Deliveroo’s

For most people that have complained about Deliveroo and its apple pay payment issue, the fault has always come from the company’s payment system.

While Deliveroo has known about this “so-called bug” affecting its payment system for years, it has kept silent about it.

Well, this is because it is not actually a bug, as most people suggest, but a punishment for policy violations.

In our own terms, you were Shadowbanned by Deliveroo from making orders.

Now, this shadowban doesn’t affect your linked Apple pay, but rather the whole of your account.

You might notice this, after trying to use some other credit card and yet, the payment doesn’t go through. Yes, this is just what might have happened to you.

There are different reasons why Deliveroo could shadowban your account, which include:

  1. You’ve been found, to request refunds on several occasions.
  2. Have a relatively enormous list of canceled orders
  3. You were hit by the app’s bug

For any of these reasons, you could be shadowbanned by Deliveroo.

How to fix this:

Deliveroo shadowban is a penalty to a Deliveroo user’s account and not the payment method you used.

As a result, to fix this, you’d need to you’ll need to either Change your address

Reset your account, or Create a new account as a sort of troubleshooting.

You could start by changing your address and then, clearing the app’s cache on your device if you don’t want to lose your account.

Afterward, you log in back to your account to see if the issue has cleared.

If the above method doesn’t work, you can also level up the game by resetting your account. Now, there’s actually no button that does this automatically.

However, you could do this manually, if you choose to.

To do this, basically, you would want to remove all payment methods linked to your account, change your password and address, and then log out of your account.

Additionally, you’ll still need to clear your cache.

This should work, however, if it doesn’t, you’ll have to implement the last strategy, Creating a new account.

However, before this, make sure to remove all payment methods from your account.

N.B; When creating a new account, try to avoid using the same address, because it could be that your particular address has been blacklisted. Preferably, you can use a location close by.

The Fault is from Apple pay’s system

While Apple pay’s issue with Deliveroo could be caused by Deliveroo’s system, it, however, doesn’t deter the fact that there’s some chance it could be caused by Apple’s payment system.

In the past, we’ve seen Apple Pay have downtime issues.

As a result is quite vital you’re aware.

How to fix this:

Thankfully, Apple Pay has an in-built tool that can be used to check for a possible downtime issue on the app, called the system status.

You can access it here.

The rounded green circles mean that such an Apple product is working fine.

If it goes red, however, that product is either having a bug issue or is completely down.

If for instance, you find either Apple pay, card, or ID with a red circle, this is simply the reason behind Apple pay not working on your Deliveroo.

The Fault is on your end

If you’re having issues with Apple Pay on Deliveroo, your first step to troubleshooting the problem should be to check on your end if you’re doing something wrong.

Below are things that could have gone wrong on your end;

  1. Your spending limit is limited for the day
  2. Your credit card linked to Apple pay is expired or close to its expiration date
  3. You have insufficient funds

How to fix this:

Just as it says, for the spending limit, you either have to wait until the next day, or try contacting your personal accountant behind your bank on how you could increase your account’s spending limit per day.

You could also use another credit card in this case.

In the case of expired cards, no company would process a payment from an expired card. As a result, you’d need to renew it to get it working for Deliveroo.

Of course, you should check for insufficient funds.

This is obvious, however, it’s worth mentioning that even a little cents less than the total order you want to make could make it not be processed.

As a remedy, it’s advisable you have a minimum of $2- $5 extra, besides the order, you intend to make.

Final Thoughts

Policies guiding Deliveroo and its payment system are quite difficult to grasp.

However, if you’re having issues with making Apple payments on Deliveroo, your first step should be to analyze if the issue is coming from you. If it isn’t, you would want to check if Apple is having downtime or use our troubleshooting guide for fixing the Deliveroo payment issues.
